Professor Kiat graduated from Monash University and completed cardiology training at the Alfred and Austin hospitals, Melbourne, and Westmead Hospital, Sydney. He did his research fellowship, and was appointed staff cardiologist and Director of Cardiac Imaging Research, at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre, UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles. Over his 10 yrs tenure there, he acquired several million dollars of research grants and published more than 200 research publications in the field of cardiology. In 2008, Professor Kiat was invited to transfer his academic appointment from UNSW School of Medicine to Macquarie University, as one of the Foundation Professors to head up the School of Advanced Medicine, which provides speciality and subspecialty medical training and degrees for our medical graduates. Professor Kiat is also Professor of Medicine, UWS School of Medicine and co-chairs the cardiovascular research group. In addition, Professor Kiat holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor at the School of Dentistry and Health Sciences, Charles Sturt University, NSW. He is also a Diplomate of four American Boards: Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear medicine, and Cardiovascular Disease-Subspecialty Cardiac CT. Professor Kiat is the Medical Director of Cardiac Health Institute.
